BC Softball Earns #7 Seed in ECAC Championship; Will Face #2 Richard Stockton

Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Softball team will continue its 2010 season, as it has earned a berth in the 2010 ECAC Division III Metro Softball Championship. The tournament is an eight-team field with a quarterfinal round followed by a double-elimination format for the remaining four teams.

The Bulldogs (16-16-1), who have been tabbed as the seventh seed, will travel to Pomona, NJ this Wednesday, May 12th, to face off against the second seeded Ospreys of Richard Stockton College (25-15). First pitch is slated for 4:30 pm.

This season, Brooklyn was led by junior Danielle Maresca (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) and freshman Lisa Morro (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht). Maresca, a CUNYAC First Team All-Star, batted a team best .467 (42-for-90), with 37 runs scored, 12 doubles, five homeruns and 26 RBI. She also ranked near the top of the conference in numerous offensive categories, including batting average, slugging percentage, on base percentage, runs scored, hits, RBI, doubles, homeruns, total bases and walks.

Morro, a CUNYAC Second Team All-Star, had a breakout rookie campaign, batting .343 on the season (23-for-67), with five doubles, one triple and five homeruns, while driving in 22 RBI, to go along with 20 runs scored.
