"This was a great win for our program," said Head Coach Alex Lang.  "I was thrilled with the energy we had tonight.  To outrebound a physical team like Stockton by 19, shows how much we wanted tonight's game."

Brooklyn started the game by playing stellar defense, holding Stockton scoreless for the first 4:23 of the contest, whle jumping out to a 7-0 lead.  Che'Na Thompson (Salem / Salem, NJ) got the Ospreys on the board on a fast break lay-up, and then a consequent free throw and three-pointer by Stockton cut the lead to 7-6.

BC answered right back with an 8-2 run of their own as Priscilla Ramirez (FDR / Brooklyn, NY) capped the spurt with a three-pointer from the right wing, upping the Brooklyn edge to 15-8.

Stockton fought all the way back to tie the game at 27 and then after a made free throw by Brooklyn's Ariel Smith (Wallkill / Newburgh, NY) gave her team a 1-point lead, the Ospreys took their first lead of the game, 29-28, on a bucket by Sula Washington (Watkins Mill / Montgomery Village, MD) with 2:54 to go in the half.

Ramirez gave her team the lead right back as she hit another three, and then a jumper and two made free throws Smith gave BC the 35-29 advantage at the break.

The second half saw more back and forth action as the Bulldogs opened their lead to as many as nine points before the Ospreys again came battling back to take a lead of their own, but this time they would extend it to five, which is the advantage they held with 4:57 to go in the game.

Two Ramirez free throws and a bucket by Lyons, cut the Stockton lead to 62-61 with 4:25 to go, and then after empty possessions by both squads, Ramirez knocked down her third trey of the night, giving her team the two point cushion, 64-62, with 3:32 to play.

The teams went back and forth on the next few possessions until two Julia Fagan (New Britain / New Britain, CT) free throws tied the game at 66 with 1:34 to play.

Brooklyn's Sabrina Washington (Elmira Free / Elmira, NY) was then whistled for a travel on a play where the ball was seemingly tipped out of bounds but no call was made.  The Ospreys could not take advantage of the ensuing possession as Thompson drove baseline but Lyons stepped in to take the charge, returning the ball to Brooklyn.

BC's next possession would show the determination of the team as they collected four consecutive offensive rebounds on four missed shots around the rim.  The fourth board went to Lyons who kicked the ball back out, however the ball came right back into Lyons who scored and was fouled.  Lyons converted at the line to give her team a 69-66 lead.

Stockton point guard Aliyah Nelson (St. Joseph / Pleasantville, NJ) came right back to make a tough bank shot in the lane to cut the lead to one, but their press was easily broken by Brooklyn and they were forced to foul with 1.2 seconds remaining.

Even though Washington could not convert on either free throw, Stockton was unable to get a shot off as time expired.

Ramirez chipped in with 17 points and 9 rebounds off the BC bench while Smith scored 11.  Elisha Raiford (William C. Bryant / Long Island City, NY) chipped in with 6 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists in her first start of the season for the Bulldogs.

The winner of the Brooklyn / Stevens semifinal on Saturday will take on the winner of the other semifinal matchup between #6 NYU and #7 Drew in Sunday's ECAC Metro Final.  Stay tuned to www.brooklyncollegeathletics.com for updates throughout the weekend.
