Women's Basketball to Host Home Playoff Games This Weekend

Brooklyn, NY --- After a great season, the women's basketball team has earned a CUNYAC post-season bid. Opening round games are scheduled for this weekend, as the women host Lehman College on Sunday at 1:00 pm.

The women of BC, with a record of 16-9 and 9-4 in conference, earned a #3 seed in the playoffs. They  will host Lehman College, who make their way into the playoffs as a #6 seed after a 10-15 season overall and going 8-5 in CUNYAC play. 

Frances Lyons (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) leads the Bulldogs in both points and rebounds. She averages 15.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. Fellow senior, Priscilla Ramirez (Franklin D. Roosevelt / Brooklyn, NY) adds 14.8 points and 8.0 boards a game, as well as leading the team in steals, with 62 on the season. Ariel Smith (Wallkill / Newburgh, NY) and Amber Gordon (Bishop Loughlin / Brooklyn, NY) average 9.7 and 9.6 points respectively. Smith leads the team with 3.96 assists as well. Justin O'Callahan (Floral Park / Floral Park, NY) rounds out the starting five with 8.3 points and 6.2 caroms a game. 

Lehman is led by Leslie Mencia (Montpelier / Montpelier, VT). She averages 16.3 points and 9.6 rebounds a game, tops on the team in both categories. Melissa St. Louis (Sheepshead bay / Brooklyn, NY) adds 10.2 points, 7.7 boards, and leads the team with 2.68 assists a game.

The Brooklyn women defeated Lehman 77-71 in overtime in their only regular season meeting.
