Jamaica, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Swimming & Diving team dropped a CUNY Athletic Conference meet to the Cardinals of York College earlier this evening by a score of 103-79. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 0-3 overall on the season, 0-3 in the CUNYAC; while the Cardinals improve to 1-1 on the year, 1-0 in the CUNYAC.
The quartet of
Yevgeniy Kuksa (Brooklyn, NY/Brooklyn Technical),
Anthony Chan (Flushing, NY/Archbishop Molloy),
Max Kravtsov (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) and
Brian Clarke (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Ford) got Brooklyn on the board early, taking home a first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 2:27.76. The Bulldogs won a tightly contested race as York's quartet finished with a time of 2:27.93.
Kravtsov had a solid overall performance for the Bulldogs taking home fist place finishes in both the 100-Yard Freestyle and the 200-Yard Individual Medley. “He's got a good feel for the water,” said Head Coach Jillian Wyrick on Kravtsov. “I think once he develops a little more endurance, Max will be tough to beat.”
Kuksa also swam a gutsy race in the 50-Yard Freestyle, beating York's swimmer by .06 seconds to post a first place finish for Brooklyn.
“The Men show improvement every time they get up to race,” said Wyrick. “They fought for every point tonight and should feel really good about how far they've come. I think they are starting to get more comfortable with their races and taking some risks, which is great.”
Brooklyn returns to action on Saturday, December 4th, when the Bulldogs will travel to Old Westbury, NY to take on the Panthers of the College of Old Westbury. The meet is scheduled for a 12:00 pm start.
